SLAKTARE

BUTCHERY & MARKET

Butcher Shop “Plus” is a contemporary take on the traditional butcher shop, merging craft butchery with modern culinary experiences. Designed as both a destination and community hub, the space includes a restaurant deli, curated meats, cheese and charcuterie offerings, and market. With a focus on locally sourced, ethically raised meats, the shop offers premium cuts, house-made sausages, gourmet prepared foods, and in-house artisan essentials like spice blends and condiments. Through collaborations with local bakers, cheesemakers, and brewers, Slaktare becomes more than a place to shop—it’s a curated, high-end food experience for the modern enthusiast.

OPPORTUNITY

I developed a comprehensive brand identity and system for Slaktare, a contemporary butcher shop expanded to include a deli and market in Traverse City, MI. Rooted in the Lobel family’s Scandinavian, Germanic, and Swedish heritage, the concept blended traditional butchery with modern hospitality. The name Slaktare—Swedish for “butcher”—anchored the brand, reflecting its commitment to quality, sustainability, and local sourcing. I created signage, window branding, packaging, and supporting collateral that honored cultural legacy while appealing to today’s craft-minded food community delivering a warm, refined, and heritage-driven experience.
